The flower of the Cannonball Tree

IMG_0015s

As seen at Fairchild Tropical Gardens. And a test for my new camera, the Canon SD800 IS, which is a straight upgrade from my existing two-year old Canon, bringing improved ISO and image stabilisation to the party.

Spoilt? Not me!

This is Verity, managing to look very unexcited at the mountain of presents surrounding Fiona.

That was on the 23rd. By Christmas Day she had flu and spent most of the day sleeping. During lucid periods she did a pretty good job of unwrapping and, as is typical, enjoyed the unwrapping much more than the contents.

Heather Mills' Pussy

Appetising

Although those potatoes don't look so tasty.

Saxon Mill, Warwick

These days the Saxon Mill is a restaurant but there was a time when it was a working mill. In Saxon times probably.

A short walk away from the mill is this wonderful spot with a thousand shades of green and a stillness that evokes the long summers of childhood.

Agent of Beelzebub

Ack! spider
In England spiders are discreet - brown or dusty black, moderately small and hide away in dark corners.

Which is how it should be.

So consider this creation of Hades - yellow and red flecked body, black shiny chitinous legs, and a web the size of a football net; waiting while the morning sun catches the silken threads to give the impression of fire.

I am still having nightmares about it.

Travel snap of the week

Giraffe fight
Not according to me, but according to the website of the Guardian newspaper. Like, here, along with a critical verdict.

Which is all rather splendid.

Miss Elly has finally got around to posting some photos. It seems the South African bush isn't quite as integrated with the net as broadband Britain!

Friday photo: Me and a dollybird

I was tempted to see how far up her thigh I could get my hand. But then I thought about a slap in the face and a visit from a burly boyfriend, and cowardice got the better of me.

Cracking thighs mind.

Friday photo: Birdland, again

Tall, short and quackers

I don't know what this bird is, but with a bit of a wash and brush-up it could look quite handsome.

I still prefer the ducks though.

Not Birdland the New York jazz club named after the great Charlie Parker, but Birdland the visitor attraction in Bourton.

The penguins are the star attraction, being (a) freaking huge; and (b) within touching distance. They are also (c) smelly, but there you go.

The Sci-fi Museum, Seattle.

The building is shared with the Experience Music Project and was designed with the music purpose in mind - it is dedicated to Jimi Hendrix. But it perfectly suits the sci-fi museum too.

A blend of H.R. Giga and the Jetsons.
