A German hotel has started calculating fees according to the weight of the guest.
The three-star Ostfriesland hotel in the north German town of Norden charges the equivalent of 34p per kilogram.
So a thin man weighing 60 kilos pays just over £20 a night, but a man weighing 100 kilos would be forced to shell out nearly £35.
Owner Juergen Heckroth said: "Slim guests live longer and can therefore come more often and that is why we reward them."

That's absolutely ridiculous.

Hey Gerald!
It seems that anorexic people get the best end of the stick, AGAIN! Not only do they save on food bills, now they also save on hotel accomodation.
Sucks about the whole malnoirishment and shortened lifespan thing, though.
Didn't see that one coming, did you Ostfriesland?
Anyway, since I was too late in replying to your post about memory and not knowing things, I'll reply here. Hope you don't mind.
If I just lost what I actually learned in last semester's Stats unit in order to understand that, I won't be too annoyed! In fact, even better if I did. I'd rather not be worried about what I don't know that I don't know about ANOVA.
Also, I've given you a post (and two 'aquatic pachyderms') on my blog. 'Coz this blog rocks, and if it helps other people to find their way here, then that has to be a good thing!
Good luck with getting some Google-recognition!

Then, along the same logic, shouldn't they also find out whether the customers are smokers, drug users, dibetic, or has any other diseases?
This seems very silly.

That is really interesting. I had no idea that this happened. Very cool and thanks for an good post. You start to wonder if people will start to hire skinny people to register for them to get a cheaper rate.

The German sense of humour is no laughing matter!
